[Class 130] A smoking-device is provided with a rubber valve which is mounted within, or in communication with, a reservoir that retains any nicotine passing through the valve, and the reservoir has no free communication with the mouthpiece. As shown in Fig. 2, a tube 62 is mounted on the end of a cigar or cigarette and supports a slit rubber cap 12 through which smoke is drawn into a reservoir 6a and passes, as indicated by the arrows, between tubes 60, 61 and tubes 61, 62 and through a filtering-disc 47 into the mouth. In a modified form, the tube mounted on the end of the cigarette supports coaxial slit rubber caps surrounded by a reservoir, and the smoke is drawn into the mouth through a filtering-disc at the end of the reservoir. As applied to a tobacco pipe, or cigar or cigarette holder, Fig. 1, the smoke is drawn through coaxial slit caps 2, 3 and passes between tubes 50, 52 and tubes 52, 51 and through a filtering-disc 9 into the mouthpiece. Nicotine collects in a reservoir 6 provided with a drain plug 7. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, the smoke is drawn through a rubber cap 15 into a reservoir 22 provided with a drain plug 23 and passes through a filtering-disc 18 to the mouthpiece. The smoke passes through a tube carrying a rubber cap 16 which prevents saliva from passing towards the bowl. The joint between the mouthpiece and the stern is formed by a member 25 which is screwed into the mouthpiece and is a force fit in the stem.
