[Class 41] A cell for the decomposition of water particularly under high pressure comprises a set of concentric cylindrical electrodes, the spacing between successive electrodes being smaller at the outside than at the inside. The spacing may decrease progressively or there may be groups of electrodes with uniform spacing, this being smaller for the outer groups. Cooling pipes or electrolyte circulating means may be housed in the inner spaces. The intermediate electrodes may be bipolar.
