[Class 124] The pawls 53 of a ratchet twist mechanism are pressed out against the ratchet ring by line air pressure supplied by the passage 56, the pawls being parallel bodied and rectangular in crosssection. When it is desired to prevent rotation of the drill steel valve 58 is turned to connect passage 64 (which was previously open to the atmosphere) with passage 56. Thus, line air is admitted to force the pawls inwardly out of contact with the ratchet ring. Valve 43 controls the fluid supply to the distributing valve 37.
