[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 15, 1936.] [Class 52 (ii)] A mattress for an invalid-bed comprises a rigid frame 1 to which a head section 2 is pivotally connected at 5, a middle section 3 pivoted to the head section, and a foot section 4 pivoted to the middle section, the middle and foot sections being slidable on rollers 17, 18, and the head section being adjusted by mechanism operated by a hand wheel 16 mounted in such a position as to be operable by the occupant. The head section is supported by links 7 connected to cranks 8 on a cross shaft 9 which is turned by bevel and worm and wheel gearing from the hand wheel 16. The foot of the frame 1 carries arcuate guides 19, which may be engaged by securing means on the end of the foot section. The latter may comprise two independently adjustable sections, one on each side, and may be provided with separate adjusting means.
