[Class 45] [Also in Group XV] In a tool for applying wire straps or ties to boxes, bales, and the like in which the wire after being tensioned by the tool is secured by deforming overlapping parts of the wire, the anvil, against which the sealing of wire is effected by pressure, is an alloy steel member having a relatively thin flat base which fits into a gap q in the tool body with its bottom face flush with the bottom of the tool body, and having an upstanding lug n which fits against and is detachably secured by a screw p to, a vertical face of the body. The lug n may have one or more dowel pins engaging with the tool body. The anvil is shown as applied to a tool of the type described in Specification 231,822, [Class 45], which is designed for use with a wire tie of which one end is formed with a helix.
