468,485. Bale &c. ties. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-. (Plymouth Cordage Co.) Aug. 19, 1936, No. 22841. [Class 109] A tie for bales, crates, &c. comprises a mass of long fibres 10 ensheathed in a sheet 12 of kraft paper or other material rendered impervious to moisture and wrapped in tubular form about the fibres. The fibres may be arranged in straight, parallel form, as shown, or may be parallel, but with a slight twist or spiral formation. Alternatively a number of cords may be arranged side-by-side to form the core. A layer 15 of asphalt may be arranged between two plies 16 of paper, and the cover may be caused to adhere to the core by means of waterproof glue 14. The sheets 16 may be formed into minute wrinkles disposed at right-angles to the length of the tie. A metallic clamp 18 may be secured over the overlapping ends of the tie by indenting as at 19 or by any other means.
