[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 10, 1936.] [Class 39 (ii)] An electric incandescent lamp bulb with a gaseous filling consisting preponderantly of krypton or xenon, or a mixture of these gases, is shaped in the form of an ellipsoid or ovoid and has a volume of less than 0À5 4##(2Lm)3 cubic centimetres, where Lm denotes the lumens emitted by the lamp when operated at its prescribed voltage. The filament 9 of the lamp is of compact form, either in the form of a coiled coil or a coil wound on a mandrel having a diameter in the ratio greater than 5 : 1 relatively to the diameter of the wire. In order to prevent irregular heating of the wall of the bulb, the filament is mounted centrally within the bulb upon anchor wires 7 which are fixed upon the end 6 of a glass rod 5 located outside the prolongation of the axis of the stem 2. The rod may be disposed obliquely relatively to the axis of the stem, or may be cranked or bent. In the example, the pinch 4 is of V-section, with the leading-in wires 8 located at the outer extremities of the limbs of the V.
