[Classes 86 and 117] Concrete-mixers are adapted for sifting by fitting the discharge orifices with a sieve. As shown in Fig. 1, the sieve 5, in the form of a drum, is removably fitted to the mouth of a mixer drum 1 which is rotated in opposite directions for mixing and discharging. In the case of a mixer which is discharged by means of a pivoted shoot, the sieve is fitted with a blade which replaces the shoot. The sieve may be fitted with an apertured plate for regulating the feed of materials thereto, and may be flat. The sieve may also be permanently fixed to the drum and a broad rim thereon provided with circumferential openings which are closed when the material is to be sifted but opened when mixing is to be effected.
