Process for the production of salve bases or salves

Salves and salve bases for cosmetic and medicinal purposes are prepared from hydrogenated fats or oils of animal or vegetable origin, which absorb not more than 2 per cent of water, and to which medicinal substances, preservatives, emulsifying agents, or fatty acids may be added. The added substances may be added before hydrogenation. Examples mention, as additions to hydrogenated oils, zinc oxide, coal tar, ol. hyoscyami, salicylic acid, cholesterin, palmitic acid, neutralized turkey red oil.
