[Class 93] Designs comprising grooved, indented, and like effects are produced on plastic materials covering the walls, ceilings, &c. of buildings &c. by means of a machine comprising a frame F carrying marking-devices having spiked wheels W, W1 so that it can be rolled by hand over the surface to be decorated, the wheels being mounted on a shaft S, which is driven from the wheel W through a clutch O and serves to reciprocate the marking-devices. As shown, the marking-devices comprise a detachable main plate M made of celluloid and provided with an undulating surface M2, and auxiliary plates M10, M11. The plate M is reciprocated laterally on guides F1 F by a rod M6 connected to a crank disc M7 rotated by gearing from the shaft S. The plates M10, M11 are carried by rods C5, C6 connected to cranks on the shaft S and are guided by pins C8 engaging slots C7 in the rods to produce various movements of the plates, the pins being carried by brackets C9, the positions of which can be adjusted.
