[Class 100 (ii)] A pattern plate for use in engraving fabricprinting rollers by means of a pantograph is produced by projecting the design optically to an enlarged scale on to a plate, preferably zinc, coated with an etch resist such as amber varnish, scoring along the projected lines by means of a needle to expose the plate, and then etching with hydrochloric acid to form grooves adapted to guide the tracer of the pantograph.
