A saponaceous composition for neutralizing the effect of toxic gases, such as mustard gas, on the skin is made from powdered soap and a chlorinated powder prepared by passing chlorine into a mixture of caustic soda or potash solution, sodium carbonate, and chalk, drying and powdering the product, the two powders are immediately before use, mixed with water to form a creamy jelly. Sodium bicarbonate may be added with the water. The composition is used for washing human beings, animals, or buildings, and used as a preventive or curative.
