[Class 38 (iii)] Varying E.M.F.-In Ward-Leonard drive, particularly for gun-laying machines, in which the generator D is excited from an exciter C driven by means of a hand wheel B, the exciting circuit of the generator is broken when the generator is at rest by a centrifugal switch d2 operated by the generator. Thus, if the wheel B is operated while the generator is at rest, no remanent magnetic field is created in the generator, and the driving motor A is not operated when the generator D is started.
