510,869. Ship's lifeboats. FLEMING, I. R., FLEMING, F. E., and MOFFAT, R. P. Dec. 31, 1937, Nos. 36201, 36202 and 36203. [Class 113 (ii)] A ship's lifeboat has sheer strakes which are vertical throughout their length and are straight ' for at least half their length amidships. It also has a " cruiser stern, the upward curve of the stern commencing at about one fifth of the length forward from the stern. The boat has an internal plate keel 64 with angle bars 65 and an internal chafing plate 66. The thwarts 26 are connected to the transverse bulkheads 27 which are also connected to the longitudinal bulkheads 30. The sheer strake 22 is supported by angle brackets 31 and a gunwale bar 36. At the stern the keel 41 protrudes externally and carries a key 42 and the shaft tube 45. The stern plating is secured by the heel fitting 43 and plates 47. In a modification a bar stern post is provided. Specification 332,084, [CLass 113 (ii)7, is referred to.
