[Class 46] [Also in Groups V and VI] An extract obtained by treating pulp or leaf residues from plants of the Agave or Sanseviera family, e.g., sisal, henequen, or American aloe, with a solution of tri-sodium phosphate is used for clarifying water. A solution of the extract on being added to water containing calcium, magnesium, or sodium chloride, or to London water, produces a gel which brings down with it suspended solids in the water.
