摘要
519,618. Emulsions. DICKESON, T. W. June 20, 1938, No. 18298. [Class 1 (i)] [Also in Group VIII] Paper and like products and textile fibres are sized or waxed by treatment with an emulsion of a wax, or the like, e.g., of paraffin wax or paraffin wax and rosin, the emulsion being produced by the use as emulsifying agent of a gelatinous metallic hydroxide or oxide other than activated gelatinous alumina as described in Specification 487,855. Aluminium, zinc and copper hydroxides are mentioned as suitable emulsifying agents. According to an example an emulsion is produced by adding melted paraffin wax to a boiling suspension of aluminium hydroxide. The emulsions mav be applied in paper making by addition to the pulp in the beaters or may be applied to the unsized or partly sized surface by dipping and heating to melt the wax and evaporate the water.
