[Class 141] [Also in Group I] An epaulette, such as for a fireman's uniform, or a device for attachment'to harness, comprises a series of overlapping segmental;shaped plates 5, each formed with tangs 10 adapted to be passed through spaced slits 12 in a backing 11 of leather &c. and then bent towards each other. In the case of an epaulette, the device is secured to the garment by a domed button 14 at one end, and a flat button 15, hidden by the next plate 5, at the other end, the shanks 16 of the buttons, after passing through holes in the backing and the garment, being engaged by pronged fasteners. The epaulette may be T-shaped. In other constructions, the plates may be secured to the backing by staples.
