[Class 4] [Also in Group XXIX] A joystick on an aircraft actuates the control surfaces through fluid pressure devices such as are described in Specification 483,049, [Group XXIX], for which purpose cams 14, 15 act upon sender devices 16, 17 for actuating the elevator and ailerons respectively. The cam 14 is carried by a part 12 pivoted about a transverse axle 13 in a member 10 which is pivoted about a fore and aft axle 11 and carries the cam 15. A ring handle 23 at the upper end of the part 12 may be rotatable about a vertical axis to actuate a third sender device controlling the rudder or a wing flap. A modification is described in which the cams are mounted on a pillar pivoted about a transverse axis and upon a hand wheel mounted on a fore and aft axis at the top of the pillar. Direct actuation may be provided for with lost motion to enable the servo-control to take precedence.
