544,735. Ventilators for ships. PARFITT, A. W. (Angelant, M.). March 14, 1941, No. 3499. [Class 137] A ventilator, preventing the passage of light and adapted to be readily fitted into a port hole of a ship, consists of an annulus 7 held in position by frictional contact with the port hole ring 6, a cone shaped member 9 formed integrally with the annulus 7 extending inwardly and terminating in an annulus 10 covered by a disc 11 spaced from the mouth of the annulus. A further disc 13 is supported within the member 9 but spaced therefrom, and one side of the annulus 7 extends outwardly at 15, to constitute a wind vane by which air is forced inwardly past the two discs. A flange 8 on the annulus 7 overlaps the opening. To enable a current of air to be induced to enter the device from either fore or aft a hollow frustrum 19, Fig. 4, projects from the disc 13 beyond the ship's side.
