[Class 20 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] A filling in a hollow door panel &c. consists of sheets 2 of inexpensive veneer spaced by single-ply wood laths 3 disposed widely apart on edge in planes perpendicular to the veneers or radial to the curves thereof, the grain of the veneers running in the longitudinal direction of the laths and secured by glue. The laths are approximately parallel and equidistant. In the case of a flat one the laths may run perpendicular to the grain of the veneer. Such assemblies may be amplified by additional laths and veneers and from such a composite block the required filling may be cut. The laths may be rended or split.
