[Class 38 (ii)] In a high voltage transformer with sandwichtype windings, the stacks of high voltage coils bSP1/SP are surrounded by insulation d between which and the core a is disposed an earthed electrode m. The latter is extended outwardly between the low voltage sections cSP1/SP, cSP2/SP and terminates in rounded edges mSP1/SP, mSP2/SP. Complementary screening rings gSP1/SP, gSP2/SP are provided on the inside of the insulation where it leaves the winding. Passages e are provided at diametrically opposite points on the insulation to permit circulation of cooling fluid through the high voltage winding.
