[Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] A tool for winding packing around condensertubes comprises a sleeve 1, which is adapted to fit within the packing-receiving space in a condenser-plate 6, and has an eccentric bore to fit over the end of the tube 7. The sleeve is adjustably secured by a bolt 3 to a shank 2 having flats 2c to facilitate its rotation. A turn of the packing is inserted in the packing-space, and it then passes through a slot 1c in the sleeve 1 and under a guide-hook 4. Rotation of the sleeve causes the packing to be wound around the tube 7, and the eccentric position of the bore causes the tube to be pressed away from the wall of the packing-space, so as to permit free feeding of the packing, which is subsequently nipped between the tube and the wall. The tool may be employed as a gauge for regulating the extent to which the tubes project from the plate 6.
