556,973. Conditioning air. CLIMATOR, Ltd., and BERLOWITZ, M. April 27, 1942, No. 5607. [Class 137] In an air-conditioning system in which means are provided for supplying fresh air and recirculated air, the latter is caused to circulate by one or more subsidiary plants which are independent of the means for providing the conditioned fresh air supply. The fresh air supply is passed through conditioning apparatus which includes a washer, and the recirculated air may be heated or cooled. A distinction is drawn between " return air " which is used air drawn from the enclosure and mixed in the air conditioner with fresh air and " recirculated air " which is not passed through the air conditioner, but which may be heated or cooled independently. In Fig. 1 fresh air supplied at F and return air at R are passed through a conditioning apparatus 1 and supplied through conduits 2, 3 to a theatre 4, return air being carried back by conduits (not shown) to inlet R. The recirculated air is withdrawn by a fan 10 through extraction ducts 12, passed through a heater or cooler 13 and delivered through a duct 11 to the interior. A duct 15 carries surplus air to the outside. In one modification groups of rooms have independent recirculation systems with thermostat or humidistat control to each room and in another modification recirculated air from one room or group of rooms may be returned to another room or group of rooms. Specification 506,441 is referred to.
