[Class 6 (i)] A mole or digging tool a is mounted on a main beam c pivoted at its front end to a secondary beam f carrying land-wheels h on an axle g. For raising the mole, a rack s pivoted to the beam c may be moved into engagement with a pinion o co-axial with a sprocket n chain-driven from a sprocket q in the hub of one of the wheels h. The rack is moved by a pin u projecting from a lever v. Excessive movement is prevented by a projection 11 on the rack which lifts the lever v and permits a spring-pressed plate 16 to force back the rack out of engagement with the pinion. At the same time a detent 12 on the main beam c rides over and rests on a support 14 on the beam f. The central part of the axle g is cranked to avoid interference with the movement of the beam c. For transport purposes wheels 18 and a drawbar 19 are attached to the front of the beam f. The rack may be fixed and the pinion movable.
