563,901. Measuring for garments. DANIKEN, L. VON, and GEISSER, J. Nov. 13, 1942, No. 16096. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, on March 12, 1943]. [Class 141] A device for use when measuring for garments comprises a pillar 1 universally jointed at 2 to a sleeve 3 supported by a tripod 5. The lower end of the pillar is engaged by a plunger 10 urged upwardly by a spring 9 and depressed by a treadle 7 to allow the pillar to be adjusted to a vertical position with the aid of levels 29 set at right angles. The levels are carried by a vertically adjustable slide having a pair of graduated arms 28, the slide being set to the level of the seat. An adjustable cross-bar 27 is set to the level of the shoulder-blades and used with separate graduated bars fitted with levels for determining the depth and width of the chest. For measuring the shoulders a pair of arms 16 are independently adjustable vertically along rods 14, 15 carried by a slide itself vertically adjustable. The arms 16 have limited lateral swing and are maintained in vertically adjusted position by locks released by handles 24. For transport, the arms 16 can be swung upwardly parallel with the pillar on actuation of latches 22.
