[Class 142 (iv)] A warping or beaming plant having a beam driven by an electromotor has an electrical control system including an actuating device for operating braking means for the beam responsive to an interruption of the motor circuit. The braking means are therefore automatic when the beam motor is stopped either upon breakage of a warp yarn or after a given number of revolutions of the beam or arbitrarily by a hand switch. The electrical actuating device may be in the form of a solenoid, as described in Specification 563,856, or a torque motor as described in Specification 563,858 may be employed. An adjustable resistance responsive to the building up of the winding on the beam is connected to the torque motor so that the time of braking of the beam is retained substantially constant. A time relay is provided for causing at least a substantial reduction in the braking after a predetermined interval. Specifications 563,855 and 563,857 also are referred to.
