Therapeutic substance from human placental cord blood

A therapeutic agent is obtained by isolating blood from the human placental cord, freeing it from non-essential materials by allowing or causing it to clot and obtaining a serum by removing the clot. The serum may be further worked up by precipitating the globulin fraction, removing the non-essential elements, redissolving the globulin and adding a preservative. An effective agent may also be obtained by merely oxalating or citrating the placental cord blood. The agents are suitable inter alia for treating measles.
