570,558. Sighting-devices. MACCURDY, J. T. Sept. 3, 1941, No. 11283. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] , To facilitate quick aiming or pointing of a rifle, light machine gun, telescope, or other sighting instrument, a wire skeleton aiming tube is provided comprising at least four circular or polygonal rings 3 of equal size, spaced apart on a carrier bar 2 and mounted on the gun or instrument so that the nearest ring is some 8 to 12 inches in front of the observer's eye. As thus seen, the series of rings appears to converge ; and to facilitate the centering of the line of aim on the target, the end rings may support central apertures 4, 6, of which the front aperture 4 is larger than the rear aperture 6 so that both rings subtend the same visual angle and appear as one. Fig. 2 shows the sight mounted on a Lewis gun. For use on guns having separate sighting for line and elevation, the two sights comprise each a series of narrow diamonds 8, Fig. 6, with crossbars 12 at the near end and a single bar 11 at the remote end. The elevation sight is shown in Fig. 6. The sight for line is similar, but with the long diagonal vertical. For rifles, the skeleton tube may be mounted in rear of a small " deliberate-aiming foresight " of ring type.
