570,938. Wood block flooring. VIGERS, F. W. Nov. 5, 1943, No. 18393. [Class 20 (iv)] A parquet floor comprises thin wooden blocks 1 each of which has a rectangular recess 3 on its underface along each edge, the blocks being anchored to the floor bed 2 by flexible strips 4 accommodated in opposed recesses of contiguous blocks and secured by adhesive to the blocks and floor bed. The strips may be of fibrous material or of bitumenised or pitched roofing felt and the adhesive employed is a tar emulsion of rubber latex or a cement wood adhesive. The blocks 1 are about “ inch in thickness and the recesses 4 up to ¢ inch. in width, the strips, which are laid as shown, being up to 1 inch in width. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (hot shown), rows of square blocks are employed, those of one now being staggered in relation to those in the rows on either side of it. The blocks may alternatively have the shape of a rectangle or parallelogram.
