[Class 83 (iii)] A work-holder for use in drilling, milling, filing, welding, grinding or similar operations comprises a U-shaped bracket 11 secured by screws 13 to a work-table or bench 14 and having pivoted thereto at 17 a clamping arm 15 carrying an adjustable work-engaging member 18. A handle 23 is pivoted at 24 to the bracket and carries a pin 26 engaging a slot 25 in the arm 15, the handle being bent as shown so that in the full line position of the Figure the pin 26 lies slightly to the rear of the pivot 24 to give a toggle locking action to the arm whilst anticlockwise rotation of the handle to the dotted line position will raise the clamping member 18 clear of the work. The bracket may be made of two L-shaped members 11 welded to a base 10 and the arm 15 may consist of a folded strip welded at 22 and having an integral eye 21 for the clamp 18 or the arm and bracket may be castings or forgings. The clamp 18 may have a solid head 20 or a swivel head.
