[Class 36] A machine for manufacturing screened conductor-pair electric cables comprises means for continuously assembling slotted insulating discs in spaced relation upon two inner conductors, the conductors being supported during the assembling process so as to ensure accurate spacing between the inner conductors themselves, and between the inner conductors and the outer screen. Magazine wheels 7, Fig. 2 have slots 8 at equally-spaced intervals, or alternatively long and short intervals, alternate slots being occupied in each wheel, the unoccupied slots being wider to allow the discs in the slots of the other wheel to enter at an angle. The washers 1, Fig. 1, which have slots 2 and 3 to receive the conductors 4, 5 are fed through tubes 11, the end washer being held up by a stop 13. A trigger 15, slidably supported in a guide-block 16 has a projection engaging with the end washer and under the action of the spring 18 tends to push this end washer towards the rotating magazine. The trigger is restrained from moving by the cam plate 19 until a slot in the magazine is opposite the washer, when it is released and pushes the washer into the slot. The washer is then carried on and is forced over the conductors 4, 5 which are located in grooves in the edges of the magazine wheels 7, and so kept at the proper distance apart. In a modification, washers 20, Fig. 5 are fed into a vertical magazine wheel, and guide wheels 31, 32 force the conductors into the slots in the washers.
