[Class 91] [Also in Group X] A composition for use in hiding or disguising water surfaces comprises a spreading oil, consisting of a mineral cil of low volatility and a polar substance, mixed with a pulverulent solid which has previously been rendered non-wettable. Lubricating oil mixed with castor oil, wool fat, aluminium stearate, or oleic acid, or lubricating oil subjected while hot to air-oxidation, may serve as the spreading oil, and coal dust, finely ground soft rock such as ferruginous limestone mixed with greasy or waxy substances may serve as the non-wettable solid. The composition may be formed in situ on the surface of the water. In an example, a pond surface of one acre is disguised by 1¢ gallons oxidised mineral oil poured on to the surface followed by the scattering after 15 minutes interval of 450 lbs. waxed coal dust distributed as uniformly as possible from a boat.
