[Class 80 (ii)] A powder clutch having interleaved driving and driven discs enclosed in a casing connected to either the driving or the driven discs is mounted between a driving electromotor and its load, which may be a rail or other motor vehicle. The resultant modifications of starting torque and current in the respective cases of a three phase squirrel cage asynchronous motor and a three phase rotor-wound motor are shown graphically.
