[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Ribs &c. of aircraft parts are flanged and dimpled between dies in a press. A blank is positioned by pins 17 on a die comprising a wood block 9 with metal side plates 12 located by dowels 14 and is flanged in a rubber press of known construction. Wood side plates 18, 19, with dimpling projections corresponding with depressions in the plates 12 are then positioned against the flanges by pins 24 engaging slots 25 and the press again actuated to effect dimpling. Dies 29 flange lightening holes. Separate dies may be used for each operation.
