[Glass 60] In apparatus constructed as shown in Fig. 2 of the parent Specification, the lower end of the pillar b has a member m which contains oil into which the movable sleeve c dips so as to lubricate the movement; a flexible sleeve n of leather, rubber, &c. is provided to exclude dust; the sleeve may be a tight fit on the parts c and m or may be anchored thereto by rings or clips o. A guard g for the grinding wheel is provided, and an adjustable stop member k co-operates with the guard to limit the downward movement of the grinding wheel.
