604,304. Valves. HYMATIC ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., (formerly HEYWOOD COMPRESSOR CO., Ltd.), JAY, J. B., and HUNT, J. A. Aug. 7, 1945, No. 20209. [Class 135] A valve for controlling automatically the inflation of a flying suit to prevent blackout of the pilot when making sharp turns or pulling out of a dive, comprises a casing a having an inlet o connected to the compressed air system of the aircraft and an outlet p to the flying suit, and a double-beat valve n of, e.g. moulded rubber, as described in Specification 597,103, [Group XI], and mounted on a spring-loaded carrier m, the.opening of which is controlled by a piston c carrying a weight b and secured to a rod d supported by a spring e itself supported by a spring-loaded piston f. Normally, the weight is held against the valve cover h by the springs, but when the acceleration of the aircraft normal to the direction of flight reaches, say, 2g, the piston c is moved against the springs until it contacts with and opens the valve n. The air pressure on the piston f reduces the upward thrust on the valve carrier m and thus permits rapid opening of the valve. Upon reduction of the acceleration, the valve closes and air is permitted to flow from the suit to the atmosphere through ports aSP1/SP, cSP1/SP in the casing and the piston c respectively. The valve is provided with a test push-button i.
