Device for use when studying musical scales

[Class 88 (ii)] A device for use in studying musical scales consists in one part such as a disc or ring 1, Fig. 1, divided into nineteen spaces 5 to accommodate the symbols essential to represent the notes of the whole group of major and minor scales and another part, Fig. 3, for each mode, similarly divided into nineteen spaces, seven of which are apertured as at 6 to show the notes of the scale under consideration. The intervening spaces represent the characteristic intervals of the mode concerned. A separate part is provided for each mode. The first part 1 is mounted on a base 2 provided with a spindle 3. An aperture 4 on the other part fits over the spindle 3. By turning the two parts, the keynote aperture can be brought over the desired keynote on the disc 1 and the scale read from the apertures. The parts of the device may be formed of cylinders, cones, frustums of cones or other shapes.
