[Class 36] [Also in Group XL (a)] A method of manufacturing a target electrode for use in a television pick-up tube, comprises supporting a thin non-planar film of vitreous material in contact with the crimp promontories of a woven wire mesh screen, heating the film to its softening temperature until the film is sealed to the crimp promotories and shrinks by surface tension to be taut over the surface, and finally flattening the film and screen under heat. The mesh may be coated with enamel on one or both sides before the film is sealed to it. Fig. 4 shows a cross-section of the completed electrode.
