[Classes 64(i) and 123(ii)] In a water-tube boiler the steam- and-water drum 1 is sub-divided by a baffle 2 into two spaces 3, 4, and a perforated or slotted feedwater supply pipe 13 is disposed longitudinally within the smaller space 4 so that the entering feedwater will be heated by the watersteam mixture issuing from the steamgenerating tubes 9, 10, connected thereto, before it overflows into the larger space 3 provided with the usual downcomers 6. A hood baffle 8 may be associated with the baffle 2, and, preferably, the inlet 12 to the pipe 13 extends through the space 3.
