[Class 120(ii)] A flyer for a yarn throwing or other textile machine has a yarn guiding traveller which is free to slide along a leg of the flyer or an adjacent rod. During unwinding from a bobbin 2, yarn passes through an aperture 8 in a traveller 7, slidable on an adjustably mounted rod 6 equipped with rubber rings 10, 11 which act as cushions at the extreme ends of the run of the traveller. The rod 6 may be displaced with respect to the arm 4 on which it. is mounted, so that it lies at an angle with respect to the bobbin 2. A tube 9 may be used to load the traveller. In order to prevent rotation of the traveller 7 on the rod 6, the rod and the rod-receiving aperture of the traveller may have cross-sectional shapes which are non-circular, or a centrifugal mass may be applied to the traveller on the opposite side to the aperture 8. Instead of the aperture 8, a small grooved runner or roller may be used. Fig. 7 shows a flyer with a rigid frame 15 and removable rod 6 carrying a traveller 7 and shock absorbers 10a, 11a. Alternatively the traveller may be guided by a bent rod as in Fig. 9, the traveller being provided with cushions 18.
