[Class 18] A holder for a reel of advertising tape 2 for tying up parcels and for a roll of adhesive tape 30 for securing the advertising tape to the parcel comprises a housing 1 having a removable base 3, attached to the housing by lugs 4 and a finger operable spring clip 9. Slotted side panels 24 are bent up from the base 3 and support the reel of advertising tape 2 within the housing. A bracket 27, having slots in each side wall for supporting the roll of adhesive tape 30 is mounted on the top of the housing 1 and is provided with an aperture 33 in its front wall through which the adhesive tape 30 is withdrawn. The advertising tape 2 is withdrawn through a slot 38 in the top of the housing 1 and over a guide 39 which keeps it clear of a cutter 19 mounted on the front wall of the housing. A tensioning device for the advertising tape is provided in the form of a pivoted arm 42 which rests on the tape prior to it passing over the guide 39. A second cutter 32 having an ineffective central portion 32a is secured to the upper end of the front wall of the bracket 27. In operation the two tapes are gripped and withdrawn together from the holder being initially held apart by a separator 45 which comprises a rolled portion 45a secured to a pivoted arm 44 and having lugs which are attached to a second pivoted arm 43 carrying a coiled wire 46 over which the adhesive tape passes, the advertising tape passing below the rolled portion 45a. After sufficient length of adhesive tape has been withdrawn the two tapes are pressed against the cutter 32 which severs the adhesive tape but due to its ineffective central portion fails to sever the advertising tape. The advertising tape is then secured to a parcel by the adhesive tape and is then withdrawn by itself to tie up the parcel. To secure the end of the advertising tape the adhesive tape is again withdrawn with the advertising tape until sufficient tape has been withdrawn whereupon both tapes are severed on the cutter 19. When it is desired to use only the advertising tape, the adhesive tape is retained in an inoperative position by the raising of the separator 45. In so doing, however, the adhesive tape is led behind a looped wire 49 which prevents the advertising tape being inadvertently pressed against the adhesive tape. A hood 47 having an open front portion, encloses the bracket 27 and adhesive roll of tape, the hood being secured to the rear of the housing.
