[Class 70] [Also in Groups XI and XVII] Surfaces of rubber hydrochloride are united by pressing them together while being heated by being placed in the dielectric field of a high frequency circuit. In forming a cup for drinking purposes or for packaging butter, jam &c. of paper 1 covered by an adhesively secured film of rubber hydrochloride 2, the sidewall is folded at the bottom to form a lip 6 into which a lip 7 on the base 4 fits. The base rests on a soft rubber block 10 having a concave top and is pressed by a conical block 15 fitting inside the cup. A heating-ring 19 surrounding the base is formed of a copperstrip coil 20 embedded in plaster of Paris or other dielectric and connected to a vacuum tube oscillator. The inner turns of the coil are flush with the inner surface of the ring. The contacting surfaces of the films on the body and base of the cup are caused to coalesce.
