[Also in Groups VIII] Fur skins may be proofed against insect and bacteriological attack by agitating the skin with a powder, e.g. saw dust, silver sand, bran, moistened with a solution of pentachlorphenol laurate in white spirit, benzene or carbon tetrachloride. After agitation the solvent is removed by evaporation and the powder is shaken or beaten out.
