[Also in Group XXV] A vice having a projecting pivot 11 fixed to the jaw 12 is mounted on a base 1 having a projecting pivot 4 by means of a clamping device allowing angular adjustment of the vice with respect to three axes. The device comprises a screw clamp having a housing 5 apertured transversely to receive the pivot 4 and rotatable with respect thereto and a head piece 20 rotatable in the housing and apertured transversely to receive the pivot 11. By screwing up the screw 8 in the threaded axial hole in the housing, pressure is exerted on the pivot 4 through the slidable disc 6, the pressure being transmitted to the pivot 11 through the slidable composite pressure piece 9, 10 which forces the pivot 11 upwards and causes shoulders 18 and 19 to be brought into engagement to clamp the head to the housing. The jaw 12 of the vice carries a guide pin 16 whereon slides a sleeve carried by the movable screw operated jaw 13. The jaws may be detached and used as a screw clamp.
