A method of flattening magnesium base alloy sheets comprises placing them in a pack interleaved with more rigid sheets under the temperature of subsequent treatment and submitting them to a temperature and pressure sufficient to effect permanent flattening. The rigid sheets may be of aluminium, aluminium base alloy, magnesium or magnesium base alloy. The pressure which is insufficient to flatten the sheets in cold condition may be 0.1 to 0.6 lbs. per square inch with a temperature of 150‹ to 300‹ C. maintained for 1 to 20 hours.
