683,897. Labels. LAKELAND LAUNDRIES HOLDINGS, Ltd., COMMINS, J. J., and BATY, J. Dec. 21, 1950. [Oct. 26, 1949] No. 27515/49. Class 73. A laundry or like identification tab comprises a length of unwoven fabric part of one side being coated with a thermoplastic adhesive and the other side coated with a substance which the adhesive cannot penetrate. The non-woven fabric consists of a mass of fibres such as cotton secured together by an adhesive substance such as regenerated cellulose or polyvinyl acetate emulsion, or by potentially adhesive fibres such as plasticised cellulose acetate, or the artificial fibre known under the Registered Trade Mark 'Vinyon', or of the copolymer of polyvinyl chloride and acrylonitrile. The thermoplastic adhesive, such as polyvinyl chloride, is applied in dots or narrow lines, and part of the tab is left uncoated so that it can be gripped. The protective or barrier coating may be a mixture of three parts of clear cellulose acetate solution, made by dissolving 20 parts of cellulose acetate (low viscosity) in 100 parts of acetone, and one part of china clay, but any mutually insoluble materials for the adhesive and barrier coatings may be used. Specifications 541,888, [Group VIII] and 613,264 are referred to.
