686,811. Pressure gauge flow-meters. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. Dec. 21, 1950 [Dec. 27, 1949], No. 31144/50. Class 106 (ii). In a pressure gauge for measuring flow through a constriction device 8, the constriction is connected to the upper cross-piece 10 of a conduit framework comprising also standpipes 14 and a lower cross-piece 12 which is connected by flexible conduits 18 to a ring balance member 2 adapted to be filled up to approximately half its height with a obturating liquid. As shown, the ring 2 is pivoted on a knife edge 3 and carries a pointer 5. The upper part of the ring contains a. light liquid, e.g. water, and the lower part, separated into two chambers by a partition 4, contains mercury which also extends into the pipes 18, passages 13 in the crosspiece 10, and standpipes 14 up to the level of enlargements 15 which expand the scale of readings near zero and may be of special form to make the scale linear. A counterweight 22 on the ring allows larger pressures to be measured. Various modifications are described e.g. the standpipes may be of arcuate form, the pipes 18 may comprise two co-axial coils, and the partition 4 may be at the top of the ring. Specifications 654,030 and 655,911 and U.S.A. Specification 2,428,436 are referred to.
