Track apparatus for giving lamp and buzzer signals in an engine cab as the train passes thereover and for signalling in like manner the passage of such train to the wayside signal box comprises a track contact device 1 which is set into position by the signalman and has a hinged plate 2 adapted to be depressed by the wheel flanges and an abutment 9 adapted to rock a lever 10 on the engine, movement of the plate and lever causing armatures 4, 4 of respective track and engine electromagnets 5, 5 to be moved towards the poles thereof and so to close at contacts 6 circuits which maintain the respective magnets 5, 5 energized to give lamp and buzzer signals until the signalman and the driver open a switch in the respective magnet circuits.
