Class 45 [Also in Group XXXII] A hand truck or other transporting means is provided with lever-operated means pivotally attached to the load supporting frame of the truck or the like which means is adapted for the further tightening of one or more straps on each of which has a buckle for initial tightening to secure the load. The truck comprises a, U-shaped tubular frame 1 having three transverse bracing members 2 welded to it at intervals and having an angle-iron 6 welded across the open end of the U for pushing under the load. Two tubes 4 on which bearings 8 for wheels 10 are mounted are welded to the underside of the frame 1 and a handle 3 is welded near the upper end. A cranked strainer 14 is pivotally mounted between brackets 15, the lower of which has a detachable section on the two' uppermost bracing members 2 and is so connected to the straps 12 which embrace the load carried by the truck that when it is rotated clockwise by an integral lever 16, as shown in Fig. 1, the straps are tensioned. The member 14 is rotated until the lever 16 butts against the frame member 1, in which position the member 14 is in an over-deadcentre position and so maintains the tension in the straps. The truck has a felt pad 11 on which the load rests. When a load having widely spaced legs is to be carried a detachable iron having a hook at the top is fixed to'the angle-iron 6.
