A quick-release coupling comprises a tubular member 4 having a U-shaped groove 9 to receive a flange 20 on an adapter 17, the parts being locked in position by a thumb-slide 10 mounted on the member 4 and urged by a spring 14 to a position where an arcuate projection 13 extending from the slide extends across the flange. As shown, the member 4 is coupled by means of a swaged sleeve 3 to a hose pipe 1 connected to a supply of compressed air, and the adapter 17 is connected to the pneumatically-operated cocking-mechanism of an aircraft gun. The air presses a resilient ring 7 slidable in a recess 6, into sealing engagement with the end of the flange 20. The spring 14 is mounted in a blind hole in the slide and acts on a plunger 15. Relative rotation of the slide and member 4 is prevented by co-operation of a flat 12 on the member 4 with a flat on the projection 13.
